The television rights to broadcast National Football League (NFL) games are the most lucrative and expensive rights of any American sport. Television brought professional football into prominence in the modern era after World War II. Since then, National Football League broadcasts have become among the most-watched programs on American television, and the financial fortunes of entire networks have rested on owning NFL broadcasting rights. This has raised questions about the impartiality of the networks’ coverage of games and whether they can criticize the NFL without fear of losing the rights and their income.

One of the narratives of the first All-Ireland football semi final, this week, has been the possibility of 2016 Footballer of the Year Lee Keegan man-marking Kerry full forward Kieran Donaghy at Croke Park. Others have suggested yanking Aidan O’Shea back into defence for the nullifying job.

‘Star’ tore Galway asunder in the quarters and did a number on Mayo, off the bench, in the epic 2014 semi-final replay. As a ball-winner, link-man and goal threat, Donaghy is as threatening now as he was five years back.

Still, dropping Keegan back in the full back line just to deal with Donaghy would be an odd move from a Mayo side that have looked to have realised their best chance of victory is by committing bodies and bravery to attack.

During a live recording of The GAA Hour in Westport, host Colm Parkinson suggested that Kerry’s other full forwards will be loving the focus on Donaghy. Mayo GAA legend Cora Staunton has pointed out the obvious flaw of obsessing with Donaghy. She commented:

“There has been a lot of talk about Donaghy after his performance the last day but if you focus on him Kerry have Paul Geaney and James O’Donoghue. They’ll be only too delighted to hear it.

“All the pressure is on him. They’ve such a good attack and a great half forward line as well. Paul Murphy had a great day [against Mayo]… they’ve an array of different talents coming from all directions… Putting Lee Keegan back to mark Geaney or Donaghy would be like robbing Peter to pay Paul.”

Former Kingdom star Aidan O’Mahony had first-hand experience of marking Donaghy in training. He said:

“I’d often be laughing that some guy might have to mark him for 60 or 70 minutes in the championship but I’d have him for nine months of the year. He was well rehearsed in being pulled and dragged and flaked [by me] so he had the full experience when he went into championship games.

“But, yeah, they’re all different.”

O’Mahony addressed the idea – put forward by Brady – that Mayo half forward Aidan O’Shea could be tasked with man-marking the Kerryman. His Kingdom-tinted remark drew a hearty laugh from the Mayo fans in attendance:

“If you had Aidan O’Shea back on Donaghy and Lee Keegan back on Paul [Geaney], that might suit both teams.”

O’Mahony believes either Keith Higgins or Colm Boyle will be on Donaghy for Sunday afternoon’s last four clash. “It’ll be a fantastic battle, I’d say,” he said.

Sunderland vs Leeds United Live Stream

Sunderland vs Leeds United Live Stream. Sunderland welcome Leeds United to the Stadium of Light on Saturday as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

The Black Cats have won one and drawn two of their opening three games to sit in sixth place after the opening three games of the season.

George Honeyman’s second strike of the season was enough to secure a point at Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday and Simon Grayson will be keen to get one over one of his former teams.

Leeds arrive on Wearside on five points themselves and they too will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start under new manager Thomas Christiansen.

With that in mind, we have picked out three Whites players Sunderland will need to keep an eye on tomorrow evening.

Chris Wood

The New Zealand international is the Championship’s most deadly forward and is the obvious scoring threat the Black Cats will need to counter on Saturday.

Wood scored 30 goals in all competitions last season and won the Championship’s Golden Boot as Leeds just missed out on the play-offs.

The 25-year-old has been the subject of Premier League interest this summer but while he remains at Leeds, he also remains their key player.

Samuel Saiz

The Spaniard only arrived at Elland Road this summer but has already made an impact at the club.

The 26-year-old scored a hat-trick against Port Vale in the opening round of the Carabao Cup and offers a significant threat in the ‘number 10 role’.

Saiz scored 12 goals and created a further eight for Huesca in the Spanish Segunda Division last season, which was enough to persuade Christiansen to bring him to England.

Pablo Hernandez

The Spanish international is Leeds’ most potent creative threat, creating eight goals for his side last season.

The 32-year-old has starred for Valencia and Swansea in the past and was hugely impressive under Garry Monk last season.

He already has an assist under his belt this season and his trickery and eye for a pass could prove to be problematic on Saturday.

Queens Park Rangers vs Hull City Live Stream

DRESS it up however you like but it has been a dismal week for Hull City.

Losing a first game of this Championship season to Wolves was one thing but the injury suffered by Abel Hernandez has made it a deflating few days.

Hernandez will not be seen until February at the earliest, denying City the services of their most prolific centre forward for six months. There is no sugar-coating an injury such as this.

Replacements are expected to arrive before the transfer deadline in 12 days but they are unlikely to offer the dependability of Hernandez at this level.

Although Leonid Slutsky was not feeling sorry for himself ahead of a trip to QPR after also losing Markus Henriksen, he will know the transfer activity for the rest of this month will be of paramount importance. A promotion challenge might just depend on it.

The short term aim has to be on reaching the international break with optimism intact. City were beaten by a superior team in midweek but still showed enough to give Wolves a second-half scare. After the draw at Aston Villa and the resounding win over Burton, it remains a largely satisfying start.

A point or three at Loftus Road would keep the ball rolling in a hectic period but it might need someone to fill those sizeable boots of Hernandez.

Prediction: QPR 1 Hull City 1

Queens Park Rangers vs Hull City Live Stream

KEY BATTLE: Jamie Mackie vs Michael Dawson.

QPR team news

QPR boss Ian Holloway must check on the fitness of Pawel Wszolek as he prepares for the visit of Hull City to Loftus Road this afternoon.

Wszolek, a Poland international team-mate of Kamil Grosicki, was replaced in Wednesday’s 2-0 loss at Norwich with a back injury.

The right wing-back was replaced by Kazenga LuaLua at Carrow Road and the on-loan Brighton man will be on standby to start if Wszolek fails to prove his fitness.

Holloway, like Leonid Slutsky, has started the same XI in his three Championship games this season.

A 3-5-2 formation has worked well for the Hoops but one enforced change will come in a three-man defence. Joel Lynch has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and could be replaced by youngster Darnell Furlong.

Defender Grant Hall is not expected to be fit until after the international break due to tendonitis, while Steven Caulker’s fitness is also being managed after not being part of pre-season. A place on the bench appears to be his best hope.

Forwards Yeni Ngbakoto (ankle) and Idrissa Sylla (head) remain sidelined for City’s visit to the capital.

QPR predicted XI: Smithies (GK); Furlong, Onuoha, Perch; Bidwell, Scowen, Wszolek; Freeman, Luongo; Mackie, Washington.

Hull City team news

Leonid Slutsky will be forced into making his first changes as Hull City boss after seeing Abel Hernandez ruled out for the next six months with an Achilles injury.

Hernandez underwent surgery on Wednesday night after being stretchered off in the 3-2 defeat to Wolves and, as a result, is unlikely to play again until at least February.

The striker’s absence leaves a sizable void to fill up front.

Slutsky will choose between handing Adama Diomande a first start or packing his midfield with an extra body.

Markus Henriksen’s foot injury will bring another chance for the Tigers, but summer signing Kevin Stewart is available for a belated debut after recovering from his ankle injury this week.

Goalkeeper David Marshall could be ready to make his comeback from an ankle injury next week, but Evandro remains on the sidelines with his hamstring injury.

Ryan Mason is hoping for good news next week after seeing a specialist on Monday.

However, long-term injury victims Will Keane and Moses Odubajo (both knee) are still some way off a return to action.

Hull City XI (predicted): McGregor (GK); Aina, Dawson, Hector, Clark; Bowen, Clucas, Stewart, Grosicki; Diomande, Campbell.

Key battle – Jamie Mackie vs Michael Dawson

Hull City will head to Loftus Road aiming to record a first clean-sheet of this Championship season and captain Michael Dawson will want to see defensive improvements after a midweek loss to Wolves.

KEY BATTLE: Jamie Mackie vs Michael Dawson.

A new-look defence was breached three times at the KCOM Stadium on Tuesday night, with Dawson urging supporters to show patience in young full-backs Ola Aina and Max Clark.

The skipper’s leadership qualities will be key to inspiring a reaction in the capital, where he can expect to come up against another experienced figure in the shape of Jamie Mackie.

The former Exeter, Plymouth, Nottingham Forest and Reading striker is back for a second spell at Loftus Road and netted his first of the season in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

QPR overview

The days when Loftus Road was awash with money and big-name signings are long gone and manager Ian Holloway is overseeing a new age of austerity in charge of QPR. The West London club, reported to be over £200m in debt, have tightened the purse strings dramatically after falling out of the Premier League in 2015. Free transfers and loans make up their business so far this summer and it will need something very special to turn a team that finished two points above the relegation last season into a promotion candidate this time around.

The opening fortnight has, nevertheless, been encouraging for Holloway. After starting off with a 2-0 win over Reading, they followed that up with a satisfying point at Sheffield Wednesday. Wednesday night’s 2-0 loss at Norwich ended an unbeaten start but they will hope to bounce back when hosting Hull City today.

Betting tips

There’s nothing to split Hull City and QPR in the Championship table after both earned four points from the first three games, and there’s very little between the sides in the eyes of the bookmakers. QPR are the marginal favourites with a best price of 17/10 for the win with Marathon Bet, while City can be backed for a first league away win in a year at 19/10 with Bet Victor. Even the draw, the longest odds of the three outcomes, is 11/5 with Betfair.

Each of QPR’s three games this season have been tight affairs to suggest the 6/5 for under 2.5 goals has its attractions. The first goalscorer market is suddenly wide open after Abel Hernandez was ruled out for six months. Conor Washington and Fraizer Campbell are both 6/1 with Bet365. Adama Diomande, who broke his duck in English football at Loftus Road on the first day of 2016, can be backed at 17/2 with Unibet.
